TPS65988: We want to Verify the differences between the TPS65988 suffix DJ and DH.

Part Number: TPS65988

Dear Expert

We want to Verify the differences between the TPS65988 suffix DJ and DH.

A user uses two different ics to buy something, so what happens?

Can you buy a way to function like TPS65988DH by tuning your existing TPS65988DJ?

Please help to elaborate.

  • Gabriel,

The TPS65988 family of parts show a different suffix based on the firmware configuration and intended market to support.  The versions are not compatible and may require additional NDA and other agreements to use because they may integrate TI or ourside IP.

Here is a listing of the diffferent versions and intended use:

DDH-  Supports all typeC/PD modes and Display Port Alternate Mode

DDJ- Supports all typeC/PD modes and Thunderbolt and Display Port Alternate Mode

DDK- Supports all typeC/PD modes and USB4 and Thunderbolt and Display Port Alternate Mode

If your system is designed for the DDH part, then you can only use the DDH part.  It is not possible to change firmware configurations in an existing system without severe issues.

    Regards,

    Chuck
