TPS65987D: Not able to configure as DFP port

Hi Team,

We are using the TPS65987DDH part in one of the docking station products. The type C port USB port will be used to charge the camera and data communication. The docking station will be worked as always a source to the camera device. I am not able to configure the PD controller as a DFP port.

Attached configuration file for review. Please review it and share your feedback.

Hi Kiran,

The configuration seems OK. How are you confirming that the DFP configuration is not applying?

Can you try checking it in debug mode of the GUI ? Can you confirm that the configuration is loading correctly?

Hi Kedar,

Thanks for your feedback and confirmation on the configuration.

We are able to load the configuration on the SPI NOR flash. Not using the debug mode of the GUI.

We are going to connect the Mobile with our device to validate the DFP configuration. But it seems power negotiation is not going to happen.

Find the attached schematic for your reference. In the path of the CC line, we used the moisture sensor protection IC.

One Observation:

After changing the configuration file and removing the moisture sensor IC. We are able to do the power negotiation between DUT and Mobile devices. But this is working with 50% of devices. Please share your feedback on the current observation.

Please review the previously shared and latest configuration file. And please let us know why only DFP mode is not working when we are connecting DUT with mobile.

Hi Kiran,

Sorry for the delay.

Can you share:

1. PD logs (Ellisys, TotalPhase or equivalent that captures CC Line communication and VBUS )
2. PD Controller State Trace. In the GUI Debug->Debug Mode->Device1, Port 1->Commands->PD StateTrace Machine. Click on Download and copy the contents to a txt file and upload it here.
