TPS65987D: FRS with BQ25723

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25723, BQSTUDIO

I have a TPS65987D with GPIO13 connected to the VAP/OTG/FRS pin of a BQ25723 and is pulled up to the 3V3_LDO via a 10k external resistor.

I have enabled the EN_FRS bit in the BQ25723 register 0x3e.

I have configured the registers as per SLVAE20.pdf with my existing configuration project in the TPS6578x application customization tool.

But I don't observe and FRS like event on VBUS when I connect a USB-C hub that claims to be PD3.0 compliant. I observe a power role swap event where the VBUS line drops to 0V then back to the VBUS depending on the external source connected to the hub.

I have a number questions:

  1. what event must I map the GPIO to in order to enable the BQ25723 to work in FRS mode?
  2. in my previuos config file I configured the EN_OTG bit in the BQ25723 register 0x34 to be enable/disabled whenever there was a attach/detach event. Do I need to keep doing this?
  3. when are you going to update the battery management studio for the BQ25723?
  4. When are you going to complete the missing pop-up dialogue information in the customisation tool?
  5. where is there a suitable explanation of all the GPIO events? your current offerings in slvubh2b.pdf do not cover all events listed in GPIO config drop downs.
