TPS65988DJ: TPS65988DJRSHR

Part Number: TPS65988DJ
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65988

Hello TI,

I use TPS65988DJRSHR for USB PD.

I have FTDI FT2232HL mini Module for Programming.

Whenever i try to  flash the binary it shows the  error Spi Device verification failed.

It will erase the device , program the device but when verification occurs at 99% it shows device verification failed.

Kindly look into it.

  • Hello Yuva,

Have you downloaded the TPS65988DJ version of the configuration GUI?

    Regards,

    Chuck

  • Hello Chunk,

I have downloaded the latest version available in TI which is 6.1.2.

Does it Supports TPS65988DJRSHR or i need to Download some other version.

Even in the tool I haven't found the TPS65988DJ version it was showing TPS65988DH version.

    Please Suggest me.

  • Hello,

So the TPS65988DJ is not supported in the 6.1.2 GUI version you have downloaded. The TPS65988DJ requires a separate GUI as we limit the types of customers that can use this device based on their end equipment.

What is your end equipment that you have installed the TPS65988DJ?

  • Hello Adam,

The End application we gonna use is  powering the Devices with PD.

Its ment only for charging and no data transfer.

The power requirements would be 60W AND 18W based on the models.

    The Voltage levels need to be at 5V , 9V, 15V , and 20V.

Can you please Suggest or Share the GUI to our part number.

I need to highlight one thing actually we tried to flash using the same version in one of the other board with the same part number, even the device got verified without an error.

But i wasn't able to get any output at the Vbus end.

  • Hello,

Unfortunately, the TPS65988DJ is only recommended for TBT3 device designs following an Intel reference design, and we are only granting access to the GUI for such customers. For your system, you will need to switch over to the TPS65988DH material. Apologies for the inconvenience this may cause

  • Hello Adam,

Things apart we have already designed and we received the materials too.

can you suggest me the other solution for this condition

  • Hi Yuva,

Unfortunately there is not much help we can do here. Like I mentioned in the previous message, we only grant access to the TPS65988DJ material including the GUI for individuals following an Intel TBT3 reference design. Since your system is only meant for charging with no data transfer, the TPS65988 is the device you should be using so the only other next step would be to obtain this material. Once again I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you.

  • Hello Adam

We have changed the TPS65988Dj to TPS65988DH version.

We are trying to Flash the binary the things are getting flashed but still i am not getting any power delivery results when we connect the device .

Can you guide me regarding this

  • Hello,

Would you be able to answer the following questions?

    1. How are you creating the image for the TPS65988DH?

    2. How are you uploading the firmware image to the TPS65988DH?

    3. Are you testing on your own platform or the TPS65988EVM?

    4. What type of device are you connecting to your system?

    5. Do you see 5V applied to VBUS when the device is attached?

  • Hello adam,

    1) we are using version 6.1.2

    2) I am uploading  the firmware using FTDI mini module

    3) Yes we are testing the  TPS65988DH in our own board

5)Yeah no am able to get the all the profiles with current but the issue is that i was getting the profiles only in vbus1 but we have configures in VBUS2 please look into this

i need the voltage s to be in the vbus 2

i have attached the  Project file as well as  the schematic image.

if possible make can you rectify the prblms in the pjt file.

  • Hello Adam,

Any Update on my previous comment

  • You have tied the other power path to GND. PPHV1 supplies the voltage to VBUS1 and PPHV2 supplies the voltage to VBUS2. You cannot tie one of the PPHV inputs to GND if you are wanting to supply power to both connectors using the internal power path

  • NO NO actually i need the Supply only at pphv 2 but with this config i am getting the supply at pphv1 please refer the above pjt file

  • Hello,

In your configuration, go to the Global System Configuration register (0x27) and disable PP1. This is the internal power path that connects PPHV1 to VBUS1.

To clarify though, PPHV2 cannot supply the voltage to both VBUS2 and VBUS1. VBUS2 only connects to PPHV2 and VBUS1 only connects to PPHV1. Hope this helps answer your question
