Our customer is looking for re-driver for their Automotive USB Charger application to meet CarPlay / Android Auto .
Is your recommend IC TUSB213-Q1 and TUSB217-Q1 ?
I would recommend using one of our latest devices:
TUSB216-Q1 - Redriver + CDP controller
TUSB217A-Q! - Redriver + DCP/CDP controller (always on)

Thank you for your reply.
Please let us know the reason why you don't recommend TUSB213-Q1 and TUSB217-Q1.
They consider to develop a application like attached.
And We got some following questions about TI Eye pattern correction IC. Please advise us.
(1)Eye pattern correction IC for CarPlay / Android Auto authentication
Is it possible (recommended) to use it?
(2)Currently, Our customer is considering to use TUSB217-Q1, which is a product with a wide operating power supply voltage. Is this IC recommended for CarPlay / Android Auto support (certification)?
(3)Although they are considering supplying the power of TUSB217-Q1 from VBUS(Refer to the attached file), for CarPlay / Android Auto support
Do they need to supply it from a separate power source instead of from VBUS?
(4)Is it possible to support CarPlay / Android Auto with TUSB213-Q1 whose operating power supply voltage is narrow (4.4-5.5V)?
Does the power supply of this IC need to be supplied from another power supply instead of VBUS?
Regards,
Kura
Hi Kura-San,
TUSB213-Q1 and TUSB217-Q1 can be and have been used in these applications. I recommend TUSB216-Q1 and TUSB217A-Q1 as they are improved versions of TUSB213-Q1/TUSB217-Q1. TUSB216-Q1 and TUSB217A-Q1 both support Android Auto and Carplay.
1) All four devices will help with UB eye diagram testing and improve interoperability with Android Auto /Carplay
2) Yes, TUSB217A-Q1 is the next generation of TUSB217-Q1 and has better signal conditioning performance/additional BC1.2 charging features.
3) It is possible to power this device from VBUS however I would recommend using a separate supply (VBATT).
4) TUSB213-Q1 can support Android Auto and Carplay. It is possible to power this device from VBUS however I would recommend using a separate 5V supply.
