Hi all,

What is the situation with an updated datasheet for this device? I see that you had mentioned that the datasheet will be updated with new characterization data, but the situation today is that the latest version of the datasheet is from March 2021.

Also, I'm looking for a way to enter the RS-FEC bypass mode. I can't find anything in the datasheet regarding this possibility. Can anybody from the TI side help me with this?

Is this RS-FEC bypass mode meant to be used as one of the normal modes of operation? My intention is to use this device in a noisy industrial environment and I'm wondering will this bypassing influence the communication quality.

Hello Zoran,

Datasheet on TI.com is the latest and the updated one.

To bypass RS-FEC's encoder register x510[15] = 1 and to bypass its decoder register 0x532[1]] =1.

Note RS-FEC should be bypassed on both link-partners.

Regarding impact of bypassing RS-FEC : you may see packet errors for large packets sizes. I am looking for furher details (if we have some for this mode)

Hi Vikram,

I've tried to find two mentioned registers in the Rev. D datasheet (the one from ti.com web site which was revised in March 2021) but without any success. This is the snapshot from section describing register maps:

The register is not exposed in the current datasheet.
