TUSB4020BPHPEVM: USB 2.0 Test Failure

Hi team, 

A customer is evaluating TUSB4020BPHPEVM, he found that if the test is only with USB camera, the test can pass, but if the test is with hub EVM + USB camera, the test is failed.

Please check the reports below.

    Hi Zeming,

    How / what is the customer trying to test?  USB 2.0 signal quality testing requires a USB HS test packet, the customer is trying to test it with a SOF packet, that will not pass.  Also, the USB 2.0 signal quality test is not run on a system it is run on a single port connected to a test fixture.  If the customer can specify which hub port they are trying to test (upstream / downstream) we can advise them on the setup.

    Hi JMMN,

    The customer told me that he could pass the test if he uses the proto board with TUSB4020 chip, but he could not pass the test with EVM.

    So he believes it is due to the settings of EVM.

    Camera outputs image data to hub to PC, so it is used as upstream?

    Hi Zeming,

    The customer is not setting up the test properly for the EVM.  The hub needs to configured to send a HS test packet in order to run HS signal quality testing, if the customer is not doing that the test will not pass.  This tool from the USB-IF can be loaded on a USB host to send the commands necessary to generate HS test packets from the hub:  https://usb.org/document-library/xhsett-x64
