DS90UB962-Q1: Yuv422 8-bit supporting function

Hi team,

I have a data format question about 962. In my opinion, 960 and 962 could support YUV422 8bit data format while 964 could not support this format, this is because 964 could only run under DVP mode but 960 and 962 could run under CSI-2 mode. I do not know whether my understanding is correct and in 962 datasheet I only see Yuv422 10bit sample code, not found the Yuv422 8bit information, so may I know that 962 could support YUV422 8bit data format and is that the same as 960? Thank you

Hello Zirui,

Yes you are correct. 960 and 962 can support YUV422 8-bit the same way but 964 can't because it only pairs with DVP mode serializers that use RAW10 or RAW12 formats. So 964 can only support YUV formats with the same pixel packing as RAW10 or RAW12 (YUV 10 bit modes).

Thanks for your reply. For 964 and 962, could each CSI-2 lane reach to max lane rate (1.6Gbps) when we using 4 lanes at the same time? That is to say, is that 962/964 max output bandwidth is 1.6G*4=6.4Gbps? How to calculate the FPDLINK rate with 962 or 964? Is that fixed 3Gbps? Thank you.

Hello Zirui,

I am not sure I understand the question. Are you asking why 962/964 can support a CSI rate of 6.4Gbps but FPD-Link can only support 3Gbps? If so you need to remember that the 962/964 is aggregating data from multiple sensors and therefore needs to be able to aggregate data from multiple 3Gbps streams.

I would like to know if 962 and 964 could only support fixed 3Gbps fpdlink rate or could support any other fpdlink rate?
