DS100DF410: link training question for DS100DF410

Part Number: DS100DF410

Dear team,

Customer use our DS100DF410 in their projects and now want to check if this part can support link training or not.

If this part cannot support link training and customer use 5m DAC cable, how should device change Tx/Rx setting modification?

Without link training, device cannot auto-detect cable length and then  adjust device configuration.

please share your comments with us, Thanks.

Ben

  • Hi,

The DS100DF410 does not implement the link training state machine logic. If the DS100DF410 is implemented in application such as 10G-KR where link training is a option the host should disable the link training function. As it relates to the retimer configuration for KR like applications:

    • The host should set the retimer to Rx EQ adapt mode 2 (i.e. CTLE and DFE both enabled) to ensure the best margin.
    • The Retimer Rx EQ in adapt mode 2 can compensate 34dB of insertion loss at 10.3125Gbps. Thus, no Tx EQ should be required if the retimer input channel insertion is within that range. l If the expected retimer input channel insertion loss is larger than 34dB the host may request a fixed level of Tx post-cursor via one of the defined standard Tx presets

    Thanks,

  • Hi Rodrigo,

Could we set DS100DF410 to pass through mode? we want to bypass signals for this application.

    Thanks.

    Ben

  • Yes, you may set the retimer to CDR bypass mode for evaluation purpose. Refer to the datasheet and programming guide (both on TI.com) for details.
