TPS25750: Generating Source Only Configuration

Hello,

I've been trying (with limited success) to configure the USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 with the "TPS25750 Application Customization Tool" (GUI config tool). Is there a way to configure things in the GUI so that it only sources current (at different voltages)?

Unfortunately this tool does not let you accomplish this. The tool is designed to conform to the USB PD specification which requires you to support 5V, 9V, 15V, and 20V in order. So if you support up to 20V, you have to advertise 5, 9, 15, and 20V.

Hi Alan,

Sorry if I wasn't clear: I'm fine with advertising all of these different voltage levels. I just only want to allow my device (a battery pack) to source (supply) current, not charge via it. Does that make sense?

Hi Eric,

Thank you for the clarification and sorry for the confusion on my side. I checked with others on the team here, the TPS25750 GUI does not support sourcing greater than 5V directly as an option. What you can do is go into the GUI and set up as a "Source (provider) and sink (consumer)" -- top left box. Then set the configuration for the Transmit Sink Capabilities (0x33) --> Number of Sink PDOs to 0.

Thanks, this did work! (once I sorted out another issue)

For others: a suggestion that if your configuration doesn't work, try tweaking the power rates or charging voltage settings. The GUI seems to have some bugs that appear as you get outside of the "usual" values.
