DS90UB960-Q1: CSI output BW calculation

Hi E2E team,

at DS90UB960 data sheet there is a quite good description of how to estimate the CSI output BW depending on mode (Round Robin etc.).

The given formula is added by an example at 7.4.20.1 that illustrates the calculated result.

My question comes from the fact, that the frame rate of the camera has no influence to the calculated result.

I know that my imager provides 880Mbps / 4 lanes at SER 953, so 800Mbps/lane at DES with 4 cameras should not have enough BW.

If I calcuate with formula (1) at section 7.4.20.0 the frame rate will be neglected and I suppose the result is not reliable.

Hello Thorsten,

1) as step number one, you should use this formula as per the given example, to calculate the max supported datarate at the CSI-2 output of the DES.

2) After that you should calculate the total input datarate from all connected Cameras, using the formula:

Number of Sensors x Hres x Vres x Fps x blanking x #bits/pixle

3) now you can compare the calculated results and see if your total input datarate is fitting your max supported datarate at the CSI-2 output of the DES.
