DS90UB960-Q1: cable effect

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hello,

One customer used 953/960 for his application as below, he used two cable which connected with a connector. The lengh of cable 1 is about 0.3m and the cable 2 is about 2m.

The problem he met is that sometimes the image didn't fresh and jammed.

If he shaked the connector between cable1 and cable2 slightly, the video picture will jam, and then stop shaking, and then it will start to display normally. Read the 0xD3 register for the TI 960 and notice that its value is always  changed. The change is shown (each point in the figure is converted to a specific level of EQ based on the value 0xD3)

Sometimes if he disconnected the cable 1 and cable 2 , and connected again, it would display normally again.

Could you please help to analyze?

Best regards

kailyn

  • Hi Kailyn,

This is typical of poor channel quality.  You can try to use a tool on our website to narrow in on some more ideal AEQ settings called MAP but if it is cycling through all of the values it may not help.  What you should do is use a network analyzer to verify the integrity of the overall channel and talk with the cable manufacturer about the performance of the cable.
