TS3DV642: DP1.4 redriver at the output for signal integrity compensation

Part Number: TS3DV642

Hi Sir,

My customer has tested the TS3DV642EVM for DP1.4 switching, if they would like to get good signal integrity at the output, just need to add a DP redriver by your advice.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1008713/ts3dv642-dp-v1-4-and-resolution-up-to-7680-4320-60hz?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=TS3DV642#

They asked why not add this design guideline on the TS3DV642 datasheet for DP1.4/HDMI video applications? it is a hlepful tip for the H/W designers.

If they wouldn't like to add a DP redriver for DP1.4 switching, do you have any layout guidelines can to do it?

  • Hi,

Adding a redriver to the MUX output is a system design consideration. For example, if the input and the output trace to the mux is short such that the total loss is within the system spec, then you may not need a redriver. But a redriver needs to be added if there is a need to boost or compensate the system design margin.

We do not have a layout guideline for the MUX and redriver. But I can review your schematic/layout once it is finished.

    Thanks

    David
