DS90UB960-Q1: connected DS90UB953&DS90UB933 simultaneously

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hello,

As the below post said: the 960, 953, and 933 all need to be set to the same RAW mode in order to run simultaneously in one setup. And when RAW mode data is received by the deserializer, it is then converted to CSI-2 Tx packets with assigned data type and virtual channel ID.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1006290/ds90ub960-q1-ds90ub960-q1-is-connected-to-ds90ub933-ds90ub953-simultaneously

So I'd like to confirm if four 953&935 connected DS90UB960 and they set to RAW mode, for example,  do the four input set the same RAW10 or RAW12? If it is feasible with three RAW10 and one is RAW12 ?

And if the 953&935 configured the CSI-2 mode, and the four input should be the same data type? If it support that  one is YUV422 8bit and others are YUV10bit  ?

Best regards

Kailyn

  • Kailyn,

When connecting to 953, the RX port should be set to CSI-2 mode. RAW mode should only be used for connecting with 933/913A.

On the 960, each of the 4 RX ports is independent so you can have some ports using RAW mode to connect with 933/913A and some ports using CSI-2 mode to connect with 953 at the same time.

When using CSI-2 mode (953/935), the deserializer simply passes through CSI-2 packets from the SER side unaltered. So if the SER is receiving RAW12 CSI-2 data, then the 960 will output RAW12 CSI-2 packets. If the SER is receiving YUV packets, it will output YUV packets.

The different ports on 960 can receive a mix of data types simultaneously. So for example you could have some ports set to RAW12 mode hooked up to 933/913A serializers, while other ports set to CSI-2 mode with 953/935 sensors carrying YUV, RAW, or any other types of CSI-2 packets. All that data can be assigned to independent virtual channels and aggregated to a CSI-2 output by the 960.

    Best Regards,

    Casey
