TCA9548A: TCA9548A reset

Hi,

TCA9548A has reset pin. It is said that by resetting it can recovery when one of the downstream I 2C buses get stuck in a low state.

But if the I2C bus is stuck by the slave device, It seems that the TCA9548A reset can't help on this situation. Is that right?

Could you also please help to explain more on why the Vpass voltage must be equal to or lower than the lowest bus voltage.in order to use TCA9578A as a level shifter?

Resetting only the TCA9548A will not affect other devices. The reset line should be connected to all devices.

The TCA9548A uses N-channel MOSFETs for its switches. The gates are connected to VCC, so at voltages above Vpass, the switch is open, and the voltage at the now-disconnected pins is determined by the pull-up resistors. See [FAQ] What are the Types of Architectures TI Switches and Multiplexers Use?
