TCAN4551-Q1: Power consumption in recessive mode

Part Number: TCAN4551-Q1

Hi Team,

I understand from the other E2E thread that the recessive current consumption of the TCAN4551-Q1 is 15mA as also mentioned in the datasheet. Our customer would like to know the power consumption in recessive mode. According to our customer,

I am trying to find out the power consumption in recessive mode for the https://www.ti.com/product/TCAN4551-Q1 . It say 3-5 mA but at what voltage?

If the power supply voltage voltage range is 5.5V to 30V, is the power consumption equal to 0.0825watts (at 5V) and 0.45watts (at 30V)?

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

Yes, the device will draw a maximum of 15mA while in a normal recessive mode.  Note that this is not the typical value, but it is the maximum value across all the process, voltage, and temperature operating conditions.  To calculate the power, you would simply multiply the current by the supply voltage being used.

    Regards,
