Hi
could you help to confirm that the attached eDP Panel can be used on SN65DSI86?

Hi Gareth,
The SN65DSI86 supports a maximum DSI video stream rate of 1.5 Gbps per lane, for a maximum of 12 Gbps over 8 lanes. Unfortunately, a device operating at 3840x2160 60Hz 24bpp resolution would exceed this input bandwidth limitation and is not compatible with the device (as it would require 1.75 Gbps per lane).
Hi Alex
The customer calculated the bandwidth 3840x2160 60Hz 24bpp resolution, 3840 X 2160 X 60 X 24 / 8 lane = 1.49Gbps / Lane , which seems to meet the bandwidth requirement. Is the algorithm correct? Or are there other factors to consider?
Hi Gareth,
There are other factors when considering the bandwidth. Each scan includes some amount of blanking pixels and time between scans as a "margin" for the display to be drawn. While the active resolution is 3840x2160 in this case, the total resolution including blanking pixels is 4400x2250. If we consider this resolution with the rest of the specifications, the peak bandwidth needed will exceed the device's capability of 12 Gbps.
