TCAN4550: Linux Socket CAN with CAN 2.0b

Part Number: TCAN4550

hi team,

what should we take care about hardware design when we want to support Linux Socket CAN with CAN 2.0b?

  • Hi Eric,

The TCAN4550 supports all of the physical layer requirements for CAN. Do you need more information on what circuitry is required on a CAN bus? If so, I recommend reviewing the applications section in the datasheet and referencing the app note linked below.

CAN 2.0b simply refers to support of extended IDs, which TCAN4550 supports. Linux drivers for this device are available online and maintained by a public Linux community, but TI does not provide direct support for this software.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
