Hi Team,

Will the DS100BR111A meet the requirements?

The main requirements are as follows:

Single-channel (TX\RX each pair of differential lines) bidirectional, capable of supporting 10G Serdes bandwidth.
Support output pre-emphasis and input equalization functions, support configuration of equalization and pre-emphasis parameters.

Is DS100BR111A the main product? Are there better options? Thanks.

Hi Charlie,

The DS100BR111A largely meets these requirements, although there are a few items worth noting.

The DS100BR111A offers de-emphasis instead of pre-emphasis. The DS100BR111A would not be suitable for a 10G-KR link.

Besides the DS100BR111A, if additional signal conditioning features are needed, one of our 10G retimers such as the DS110DF111 might be considered.

Hi Drew,

Samples for DS100BR111A are not available. What are the differences between DS100BR111 and DS100BR111A? DS100BR111 has more functions, right?
The application scenario is USXGMII and SFP+. Is there any difference between these two products for this application scenario? Thanks.

Hi Charlie,

The primary difference is that the DS100BR111 has support for 10G-KR signaling. I would expect either the DS100BR111 or DS100BR111A to work similarly in the application you mentioned.

Hi Drew,

All of the above have been checked.

Finally, my customer changed the EQ value to a smaller value, and the problem was solved.

It is suspected that the default EQ value is too large, causing the input to be unrecognized, resulting in no output.

Is this suspicion justified? Thanks.

Regarding this, over equalization could cause the far end receiver to be unable to lock to the signal. If this is the case, it sounds like there was not a problem with a lack of output from the DS100BR111A, but rather just that the receiver was not locking to the signal. Does this sound like a reasonable assessment of the issue?
