DP83822I: function of RBIAS

Part Number: DP83822I

Hi PHY Expert team

Recently I contacted with you through email about the abnormal working state of PHY DP 83826, finally the problem was found out, that the thermal pad which also used as GND is not connected to the GND on PCB firmly.

When I talked with customer. I found when they use DP83822 they also did not connect the thermal pad to GND firmly, but DP83822 can work properly. I am wondering why there is the difference, so I reviewed the datasheet of DP83822, and found that DP83822 has a PIN called RBIAS, which should be connected to GND with 4.87-kΩ resistor.

Since there is no further description on the RBIAS pin, I want to ask is that RBIAS PIN related to the IC grounded? Is there the internal connection which connected RBIAS PIN to GND PIN.

Thank you

Joe
