DS25BR440: Help to propose a Redriver application device with CSPI protocol in TV

Part Number: DS25BR440
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS15BR401, DS15BR400, DS25BR400, TDP0604, DS25CP104A

Hi Team:

there is a new redriver application opportunity  in TV video Signal Protocol --CSPI , it is specially used in Big size LED TV Panel and located in the middle place of the TV panel board, the CSPI protocol is similar with LVDS, But it is specially differ from LVDS due to 1: higher transmission data rate up to 2 Gbps, 2: the differential signal is 1.8V. so could you help to proposal a solution used in TV SOC to panel's redriver.

just attached the statement of CSPI- A Chinese protocol, thanks very much!

  • Hi Richard,

After reading through the attached statements about CSPI, from my understanding of the need for up to 2 Gbps data rate and the minimum eye opening reported in the study, DS15BR400/DS15BR401 could be a good solution for this application.

I have a couple of clarifying questions and inquiries for you relating to the TV application:

    1. What transmission medium would be used? What is the approximate maximum loss this system would encounter?
    2. Where is the eye diagram measured at in the experimental setup? I can see a vertical eye opening of 312mV in this capture.
    3. Is the differential signal 1.8V peak-to-peak?
    4. What customer is inquiring about this potential use case? Any estimate on the volume of this application?

    Best,

    David

  • Hi David:

I just attached the signal spec for your reference, please help to double check,, thanks!

      1:FFC+PCB     FR4

2: eye diagram is between 0.1V- 1.2V, with normal 1.8V supply

    3: pk-pk<=1.2V

4, Customer is TCL CSOT, this is only used in big size(>80'' )TV

  • Hi Richard,

Thank you for the follow-up responses. I would also suggest to look into DS25BR400 or similar CML devices. This device is capable of 100mV-1560mV input voltage levels at the 2.0 Gbps datarate.

Is the block diagram presented in the initial study representative of the application for the TV? Or do you have a different block diagram for that application that I could take a look at?

    Best,

    David

  • HI David:

I do not have detail for the block, but I have a further check and find the input common voltage and output common voltage can not meet spe(<0.6V), This CSPI signal is similar to HDMI 2.0 by differential voltage BUT differ from HDMI2.0 by the common voltage below 0.6V, so I do not think DS25BR400 or related series can meet requirement,

so, please help to check TDP0604, but I have my concerns 1: TDP0604 output common voltage is 3.3V, if there is some solution to level down this voltage, 2. customer do not have CLK signal, if it is ok only for the HDMI data channel for the signal redriver, thanks!

  • Hi Richard,

I don't believe TDP0604 would comply with your system's need. I'd like to make a recommendation of DS25CP104A instead. Please take a look at the electrical characteristics of this datasheet; for output common mode, this could be AC coupled.

    Best,

    David
