SN65MLVD201: Microcontroller suitable for serializing/de-serializing data at max speed of 100Mbps/50MHz

Hello,

We are using SN65MLVD201DR, half-duplex MLVDS transceiver between two units for serializing and de-serializing data. Max operating data rates is 100Mbps with 8b/10b NRZ and so highest frequency component is 50Mhz. Is there any high-speed MCU that we can use in this application or FPGA will be the only choice we'll have?

Apologies for delay in response,

We suggest to use AM243x can support such interface. It has a co processor called PRU ICSSG. There is hardware support for PRU to do serial2parallel conversion in RX and parallel2serial conversion on TX. See 6.4.5.2.2.3.6 Three Channel Peripheral Interface – see spruim2e.pdf .

Please note that we dont have a demo for the same in MCU PLUS SDK.

8B/10B line code can be simplified using look-up table.
