Elaborating on Glen's question, do we need to disable KR training on the backplane along with disabling auto-negotiation for Ethernet function for the retimer to work in 25G mode

    HI Asok,

    Yes, please disable KR training as well.  I didn't realize this was 25G-KR.  Since the retimer re-transmits data, it does not pass through the different transmit coefficients used in link training.

    Hi Drew,

    Thank you for your response. Unfortunately the 25G link still doesn’t go up even after disabling auto negotiation and KR training on the backplane. We tried using the forced speed 25G and even fallback to 10G (lower speed) but didn’t help.

    Please help review our hex file (after updating the register as you suggested earlier) Glen updated to the other ticket.

    Hi Asok,

    Thank you for the update.  I'll work on reviewing the HEX file.  Given that we are continuing to debug this, it would be helpful to directly modify and monitor the device setting via SigCon Architect.  If possible, please consider connecting a USB2ANY device to the DS250DF410 I2C connection.  If you have a DS250DF410EVM, this can be used as a USB2ANY device.

    I understand that your system is strapped for master mode.  However, once the device has successfully loaded a configuration from EEPROM, it will behave as an I2C slave.  This enables monitoring and modification of device registers without modifying the strapping.

    Hi Drew,

    I was able to attach the 2 files requested to this case.

    1. Golden config was provided by you earlier for 0x44 slave

    2. After changing the 0x1E register as suggested by you in the other case with Glen 

    Can you please help verify if these changes look correct ?

    If not, we appreciate if you can help provide us with updated config file

    Hi Asok,

    I reviewed the modified version and it appears to have the correct 0x1E register changes needed to the retimer to output raw (un-retimed) data while CDR lock cannot be achieved.  Another change I noticed is that the modified version appears to be using adapt mode 1 instead of adapt mode 2.  Not sure if this was intentional.

    Also, in order to use the modified EEPROM at address 0x44, the address header needs to be modified due to SigCon Architect bug.  I've attached a modified version which supports this.  Please let me know how this works in your system.

    Hi Drew,

    Thank you for the new image. Unfortunately this version still doesn't work even after disabling kr autoneg and ethernet autoneg. i.e. the 25G link is still down. We appreciate if we can have a meeting where we can discuss further steps.
