DS90UB954-Q1: Differential pairs routing of RIN Pins

Hi Team,

About DS90UB954-Q1 layout recommendation. In datasheet the RIN pins (PIN41 and PIN 42) routing is not differential pair routing. Hence I would like to ask, do you recommend differential pairs routing on the routing of RIN pins? Is this a must thing?

Hi Lucas,

I ask this question for my customer. I and my customer are both rookie in this FPD-Link devices. They are also considering whether to use coax and STP as well.

So could you pls kindly introduce, which scenario will more suitable with coax and which is for STP?

And in both scenarios, which kind of layout would you like to recommend?

Also, do we have some materials or related user guide/ tutorial about the FPD-Link, could you pls also share this so that me and my customer can catch this up quickly?

Hi Manu,

Please refer to section 10.1.2 "Routing FPD-Link III Signal Traces and PoC Filter" of the datasheet for differential pair routing recommendations in both coax and STP configurations.

These TI Precision Labs video series are a good starting point to learn about FPD-Link.
