TIOL1115EVM: LED Status on the TIOL1115EVM

Part Number: TIOL1115EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIOL1115

I powered up the EVM board via the IO-Link master and the following LED's show up:

D1 : VCC in/out is on

D2: NFault is off

D3: Wake is faint orange led

D4: L+ is off although L+ is connected to io link master +24V

D5: CQ is off.

D6: Rx is on

D7: TX is off

D8: EN is on as JMP5 is connected to VCC and EN

Is it common to have these leds off when first connected to io-link master and microcontroller ?

Shouldnt the D4: L+ LED also be turned on when plugged in to master ?

  • Hello Chirag,

If you will notice, the current limiting resistors for the LEDs connected to L+ and CQ are not installed by default.  If you would like to use them, you can add an appropriate resistor to reduce the current and step the voltage down from the 24V to a safe level for the LED.  However, the fact that the other LEDs are active indicate the L+ power is active and the TIOL1115 device's LDO is supplying power.

There is a table in the User's Guide to explain the meaning of the LEDs. Keep in mind that the Master provide the voltage and current path to control many of these LEDs, so the default power up state may vary with the Master.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
