DS90UB960-Q1: about the external frame sync for DS90UB960

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Dear,

It's our block diagram like below picture1

[Picture1]

It's work very well.

Also, as you know it was used the internal Frame sync signal like below Picture2

[Picture2]

And....

We need to change the frame sync signal from internal frame sync to external frame sync.

Then, I change the FS_MODE ( FS_CTL register 0x18) from 0x01 to 0x80

it's for GPIO0.

But, I don't know which signal to put in GPIO0.

Please, let me know which signal to put in GPIO0.

( I means that this signal is 60 hz signal or other ... )

best regards,

hosung shin.

  • Hi Hosung,

From your question, I understand that you are looking to have the frame sync signal input to the DS90UB960 instead of having it internally generated. The frame sync signal would then be sent from an SoC and input into the GPIO0, based on the setting you shared for register 0x18.

By using external frame sync, the signal will get passed on to a GPIO on the connected serializer, which will be fed into the imager.

    Zoe

  • Hi Zoe,

Yes, I understand that " The frame sync signal would then be sent from an SoC and input into the GPIO0, based on the setting you shared for register 0x18 "

But, I don't know the SoC's output signal.

    It's my question.

The SoC's output signal is 60hz signal or 30hz signal or 1khz signal  ....etc

please let me know which signal can I use.

    best regards,

    hosung shin.

  • Hi Hosung,

Apologies for the misunderstanding. The rate of the external frame sync signal will be dependent on the system application. In the posted question, I do not see information on the video data or image sensors which would be needed to give an exact answer.

The external frame sync signal will need to be in sync with the operation of the imager. For instance, if the imager is running at 30 fps, then the frame sync signal will be 30Hz. If the imager is running at 60 fps, then the 60Hz signal would be used.

Please note that to configure the DS90UB960 to use the external frame sync, there are additional register settings that need to be made. FS_GEN_ENABLE will need to be set to 0 and the FrameSync signal will need to be sent over the back channel GPIOs for each port (BC_GPIO_CTL0 or BC_GPIO_CTL1).

Additionally, is this system set up on an EVM? If using the EVM, please remember to source the FrameSync signal to GPIO0 as this is not inherently supported on the EVM.

    Best,

    Zoe

  • Hi Zoe,

    Thanks for your reply.

Actually, due to other work, this work is temporarily on holding.

then, If it's some problem, I will reopen this issue later.

    best regards,
