TCAN332: In our application, the CAN bus will have both 5V CAN and 3.3V CAN transceiver, any suggestion for the output circuit for the environment ?

Part Number: TCAN332

Hi

In our application, the CAN bus will have both 5V CAN and 3.3V CAN transceiver, any suggestion for the TCAN332 output circuit to make it work more robust for this condition?

we are reference to this post

https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/815192/tcan332-mixed-system-that-3-3v-can-tcan332-and-5v-can

it said in such 3.3V and 5V mix condition, more common mode noise will be seen.

  • Hi PY,

The common mode noise in a mixed 3.3V and 5V CAN system will have minimal impact on the stability of the actual CAN signal. This is more of are concern if your application has requirements for electromagnetic emissions because the common mode signal is directly related to the emissions profile of the system. If this is not a consideration for your application, no additional circuitry will be needed to implement a mixed supply solution.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
