Hi team,
Could you share the special FW for force SATA Gen1? Customer need it because with default FW, it don't have the suitable amplitude for SATA Gen1. Thanks a lot!

Hi team,

Hi Rayna,
I sent you a PM on E2E. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
Thanks a lot! And I want to check with you about the differences between this FW and default FW. Does it change the speed and amplitude to meet SATA Gen1 requirements? Thanks!
Rayna
Hi Rayna,
I am not fully sure of all the differences between this FW and the default FW, as this was specially made a few years ago, but the speed should at least be set to Gen1 Specs.
What concerns does the customer have regarding current? Is the current too high or too low for their intended purpose?
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
customer feedback that the amplitude doesn’t match the requirement of SATA Gen1. Could you pls give some guide on how to change the amplitude? thanks!
Rayna
Hi Rayna,
For amplitude, what exactly is the customer looking for? Are they referring to the TX Swing margin? Is the swing too high or too low? Or is there too much current?
For Adjusting the TUSB9261 FW, the TX Swing and forcing of SATA Gen1 Speeds can be done from the AHCI.c and AHCI.h files respectively in the TUSB9261 FW.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
Yes, the swing is too low. They need to increase ±50mV in swing.
I told them to adjust AHCI.c and AHCI.h. But customer don't know how to modify it. Could you give some guide on it? Thanks a lot!
BTW, customer want to know if they use TUSB9261 in linux os, is there any requirement for the kernel version?
Rayna
Hi Rayna,
OK, depending on the customers current swing, they should be able to adjust the amount.
If your customer has requested the source code from the TUSB9261 page on TI.com, then they should have the files they need to edit.
I will PM you with instructions on what should be changed according to the customers needs.
As for TUSB9261 in Linux OS, the TUSB9261 should still work, however they will need a specific version of the flashburner for operation in Linux. I can provide that if needed.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
customer want to know if BU could help to modify the swing and share a new FW with them. could you help with it? They need 1000mV and 625mV.
Thanks!
Rayna
Hi Rayna,
I can try on my side to see if I can generate a FW. Just to confirm, your customer wants two different versions with Sata Gen1 Speeds, one with a 1000mV swing and one with a 625mV swing?
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
yes, Gen1 speed with 1000mV and 625mV swing.
Thanks!
Rayna
Hi Rayna,
Got it. I will make changes to the FW then, and get it sent over as soon as I can.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
May I know when the new FW would be ready? Customer is quite urgent for this case. Thanks a lot!
Rayna
Hi Rayna,
Sorry for the wait. I will send them to you on E2E PM's right now.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
Customer feedback that with Gen1 speed limitation, the FW can't be recognized. Could you pls modify amplitude with default FW and share with me? Default FW with 1000mV and 625mV, no speed limitation. Thanks a lot!
Rayna
Hi Ryan,
It still can't be recognized. I shard with you the FW that customer is using via E2E. Could you pls help to modify the amplitude based on that FW? Thanks a lot!
Rayna
Hi Rayna,
Sorry for the delay, as E2E was down at the end of the week last week.
I just sent you a PM with FW via E2E.
Thanks,
Ryan
