TDES954: AEQ for different cable length

Thanks for reaching out with this question. Do you have background on why the customer may need to set AEQ range? Is this something they desire within their initialization script? Seems like the AEQ in the above plots is quite normal, with a longer cable we have a higher AEQ code which is valid.

Customer face to re-lock issue with long cable, set AEQ to full range will cause longer time to lock. But in their application, they provide both long and short cable when they ship product to customer.

We want to find a balance for both this two cable. AEQ is prefer to use since cable aging.

Is the short link always on a specific RX port with the long cable always on the second specific RX port? We can set port specific AEQ min & max here.

Both two different cable length sue the same RX port, it depends on customer's application. And end user don't need to set EQ level for different cable length, that is why we set auto EQ and want to find a suitable AEQ range.

I'm a bit confused here, are these two different OEM customers with different cable length? Generally we would recommend setting AEQ window for the specific cable used, not for multiple cables like this.

They provide both two cable to end customer. So in this case, you will recommend to set different AEQ for multiple cable even based on the MAP?

Yes, we could set a AEQ range, however this is based on one system, with two cables. To account for variation across PVT we'd want to test more units more cables before setting an AEQ range like this.

we do not recommend disabling the AEQ and fixing the EQ value.
