THS8200-EP: Longevity and Support

Part Number: THS8200-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS8200,

As we are planning to use this part in one of our design. actually their are two parts available on TI. 1). THS8200 and 2). THS8200-EP.

for the first part THS8200, regarding support on TI it is mentioned that,

No design support from TI available

This product does not have ongoing design support from TI for new projects, such as new content or software updates. If available, you will find relevant collateral, software and tools in the product folder. You can also search for archived information in the TI E2ETM support forums.

An for second part THS8200-EP it is not mentioned like that support.

so our concern is does TI will support  all the way for THS8200-EP at least for 10 to 15 years.

Regards,

Sanju

  • Hi,

All I can say is that we have no near-term plans to EOL this device. In terms of longevity like 10 to 15 years it is kind of far to guarantee a time span as it’s a function of overall demand and available capacity. As far as design support, it will be the same as THS8200.

  • Hi,

I have few more questions based on your reply, that TI is not providing support for THS8200-EP

1>   Is there any issues / bugs, why TI is stopping the support.

2>    Does this part reached maturity level of product?

3>    what kind of risk is there if we use this product?

4>    what does it mean when No support?

I request you please share the information of these question.

    Regards,

    Sanju

  • Hi,

    1. This device is on a legacy technology 180nm and TI will continue to support these products.   Any issues/bugs would be captured in a published erratum.  Beyond this the device conforms to DS specification.
    2. This device is considered mature from a product life cycle perspective.
    3. This is too wide open to effectively answer.
    4. No support implies that the ability for TI to support via E2E forums is very limited and the customer is expected to own their own implementation for this device at the system level.
  • HI,

Thank you very much for your response we highly appreciate it.

Now, we are planning to use this device in our new product to support analog video. Are all information related to implementation of this device is available and if we have any questions regarding implementation of this device related to hardware design or software programming, will TI provide necessary guidance?

    Regards,

    Sanju

  • Hi,

As much as I like to give you an answer that you are looking for, as I have stated earlier, there will be no design support on e2e for this device. You may search the E2E forum for archived posts of previous discussions which may help address your questions. Sorry for lack of guidance.
