Hi.

I'm designing a custom board supporting UFP_D with TPS65987D, TUSB564 and HD3SS460.

Since I need to get VESA certification, I plan to implement it as in this document.

I can understand the schematic but I'm not sure about FW setting for TPS65987D.

I couldn't find an appropriate GPIO event for control POL of HD3SS460 from 3.36.2 GPIO Events in Technical Reference Manual.

What GPIO event should I apply for control POL?

Hello,

The GPIO events do not support the pin assignments. This is done via the I2C Controller Events. What is intended is that the PD sends an i2c message to the retimer for the appropriate pin assignment and orientation:

My GUI doesn't show the pin assignment event separately.

How can I see the setting like you show?

This is my environment.

GUI Ver : 6.1.4

Configuration Files Supported Device : TPS65987DDH(Advanced)

I found TPS65987DDK can set the pin assignment events separately, but I don't need USB4 support.

I'd like to use TPS65987DDH. Is it possible to set like you show on TPS65987DDH project?

It is not possible to use the TPS65987DDH with DDK pin assignments.

I'd like to support "Pin Assignment E" for UFP_D like this document, but I don't need USB4 and TBT.

Question 1

In this case, should I use TPS65987DDK?

Is there any problem to adapt TPS65987DDK without using the feature of USB4 and TBT4?

Question 2

Would you tell me appropriate PD controllers to control POL on this document?

Hello,

In the TPS65987DDK you can choose to disable the thunderbolt mode and USB4 mode via the GUI.

Most PD controllers provide a GPIO event based upon the orientation of the connector.
