TDP0604: Request for schematic design reveiw

Part Number: TDP0604

Hi Vishesh,

I'd like to ask you about schematic design of TDP0604. Customer is verifying this device on their board, but there is no difference of TMDS signals between with TDP0604 and without TDP0604(connect directly). Please check an attachment below and let me know your design review result. Customer's design descriptions are as follows.

1. LINEAR_EN : applied pull-down resistor of 1kohm to setup limited redriver.

2. EQ0, EQ1 : changed from 1dB to 12.3dB, but there is no difference.

3. CTLEMAP_SEL : applied pull-up resistor of 1kohm to use 1080i resolution on their system.

4. TXPRE : changed from 6dB pre-emphasis to -2.5dB de-emphasis, but there is no difference.

Also, It says that there is description below on the link(https://www.ti.com/document-viewer/lit/html/SSZTA78). Is it better to change from redriver to retimer for this case?

Another aspect to keep in mind is that because a retimer has more functionality than a redriver, a retimer can solve the majority of jitter issues in a system, resulting a better performance (with the trade-off of higher cost and higher power consumption).
