DP83822IF: DP83822IF: Using the DP83822 EVM in Fiber Optic Mode

Part Number: DP83822IF
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430F5529LP

Hi Evan,

Can you send me the pictures of how to connect MSP430 Launchpad to DP83822IF EVM?

I need to modify the PHY registers for Fiber Optic application.

Please see our previous thread.

Also, I can use any Launchpad. Correct?

Can you send me instruction on how to communicate from Launchpad the PHY?

Thaks

Magid

  • Hi Magid,

Here is the instruction on how to use MSP430 Launchpad to any PHY products. Please let me know if you have further questions:

  • Hi,

I purchased MSP-EXP430F5529LP. I have DP83822IF EVM modified for fiber optic. I am not a programmer.

I downloaded these 2 SW on my PC:

    MSPFlasher-1_03_20_00-windows-installer

    ti_msp430driver_setup_1.0.1.1-windows

I just want to take the Lauchpad+the PHY demo board; connect to PC; type commands to read and write PHY registers. Hopefully no code development!!!

I am looking at both Lauchpad manual and the link you sent me for PHY access.

    3 Questions:

Q1-Do I need to load another SW? Like development platform Code Composer Studio IDE (CCS)?

Q2-I do see the following on my PC device manager which is good. But, when I type a command on one COM port, I do not see it on the other. Any suggestions?

    --TI USB MSC device

    --MSC Application UART1

    --MSC Debug interface

Q3-Once step 2 works and I see the characters as I types on one COM port, where do I type the commands to access PHY registers?

    Thanks

    Magid

  • Hi Magid,

I believe the MSP430 need to be flashed. Have you installed the software "Uni-flash" yet?

Section 2.3.1 in the userguide should give you the instruction on how to flash the MSP. The following link should give you an instruction on how to flash:

I am not quite sure where are you stuck on? Could you provide a picture on where you stuck on?
