TCAN1043A-Q1: WAKE on IGN, but never WAKE on CAN

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Not sure if the team have seen this one before. We need WAKE on IGN, but we never want to use WAKE on CAN bus activity.

Do we have any ideas on how to keep IGN WAKE while disabling WAKE on CAN?

Thanks,

Jacob

  • Hi Jacob,

Unfortunately there is no way to disable wake via the CAN bus on typical CAN transceivers like the TCAN1043A. One possible solution for applications that need to ignore CAN bus wakeup conditions is to use a partial networking transceiver to filter bus traffic while in sleep mode. If configured for a CAN ID that will not appear on the active CAN bus, such a transceiver would be able to remain in sleep mode while the CAN bus is active and only wake when a local wake up condition on the WAKE pin was detected.

This is not quite a perfect solution as the device will still be sensitive to CAN errors, but this is a desired safety feature in many applications that implement partial networking.
