1. Since this item has been launch for a long time, the original selected flash in datasheet was end of life, is there any flash part that has been pass compatibility testing or advised?

2. Is this item support SMART attributes?

Hi Logan,

1. Please refer to table 7 in TUSB9261 Implementation Guide (Rev. E)

2. There has been a question on this 9 years ago. (+) TUSB9261 SMART drive commands - Interface forum - Interface - TI E2E support forums.
The recommendation is to use ATA pass through to send SMART commands.

Dear Nicholaus:

1. The flash items list down in the table 7 in TUSB9261 Implementation Guide (Rev. E), has all been EOL.

Is there any latest flash items that has passed testing or recommended?

Hi Logan,

Unfortunately, we do not have a newer list of recommended flash devices. The best recommendation I can make would be to look for flash devices similar in terms of characteristics to the ones listed. Sorry about that.

I have found a similar issue that has given more up-to-date recommendations.

"SPI Flash requirements:
~ The bootloader uses a fixed frequency of 18.75 MHz.
~ The flash must use a word size of 8 bits and an address length of 24 bits.
~ The program instruction must allow 256 bytes to be written in one operation.
~ The entire chip is erased by the bootloader prior to programming.
~ A minimum flash size of 512 kbits (64 k x 8) is recommended.

We identified these flashes that meet these requirements and are still available.
