I have taken this chip for LVDS to FPD- Link III Serializer and Deserializer for the application of Car Head Unit

Whether it is suitable for it?

I would like to know whether the I2C present in this can be used for touch interface ?

Hi Veerapandiyan,

Yes, with the bidirectional control channel communications you can have I2C communication from the SoC/ processor on the serializer to peripheral devices (MCU, display, touch controller, etc) connected on the deserializer I2C bus.

In the datasheet you can find it can be configured by enabling I2C passthrough and setting the Slave/ Target ID and Alias. The datasheet also lists the SCL clock frequency supported.

Hi Ikram Haque,

In the Processor we have two clock line, but in the DS90UB947-Q1 Serializer there is only one clock line. Whether the one clock will be enough?

Hi Veerapandiyan,

With the 947 OpenLDI interface, there can be either Single-Pixel or Dual-pixel modes.

- Single-Pixel OLDI uses CLK, D0 to D3
- Dual-Pixel OLDI uses CLK, D0 to D7

This is also explained in "7.3.4 OpenLDI Input Frame and Color Bit Mapping Select" section of the 947 datasheet.

For Dual-Pixel mode, both "ports" D0 - D3 and D4 - D7 operate off the exact same pixel clock frequency and phase. So connecting one clock line will be enough when they are the same for dual-pixel OLDI.

Also for your information, the FPD-Link IVI serializers are compatible with a number of other deserializers, and can be paired to convert one type on video interface to another.

So for example, you can have applications where you could pair a DS90UB925Q-Q1 (RGB) with DS90UB948-Q1 (OLDI). The compatible devices are also listed in the datasheet. Let us know if you have further questions or to discuss your project.

Could you confirm if the D_GPIO pin on the deserializer can be used to connect to the interrupt and reset pins on the display, then routed through the serializer to the processor?

Hi Veerapandiyan,

Yes this is described in the GPIO sections of the SER and DES datasheets. The GPIOs can be set for forward channel or back channel as required.
