TDP1204: TDP1204IRNQ is not functioning properly

Part Number: TDP1204

Tool/software:

Hi ti team,

TDP1204IRNQ is a new component that has not been used before. The reference design for the small board based on the specification sheet is not working properly. Please help analyze the schematic diagram of the design to see where the problem lies, thank you!

  • Hi,

    Are you trying to support HDMI1.4, 2.0, or 2.1? What is the issue you are seeing right now?

    Looking at the schematic,

    How is the VIO voltage being supplied?

    Instead having HV_DDC connected to one HDMI connector and LV_DDC connected to the another HDMI connector, you want to pass the DDC from one HDMI connector to the other connector and implements DDC snooping on the HV side.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hi David,

    I found a problem during the process of verifying the performance of the equalizer board while testing its signal quality. I lowered the signal quality of the HDMI signal by increasing the length of the HDMI cable and then optimized the HDMI signal quality through the equalizer board and sent it to the monitor for display. I determined the performance of the equalizer board by the display effect on the monitor:

    For example:

    ① PC + 1.5m HDMI cable + monitor: The monitor has a signal and displays normally;

    ② PC + 1.5m HDMI cable + equalizer board + 1.5m HDMI cable + monitor: The monitor has a signal and displays normally;

    ③ PC + 10m HDMI cable + monitor: The monitor has no signal;

    ④ PC + 10m HDMI cable + equalizer board + 1.5m HDMI cable + monitor: The monitor still has no signal;
    From the test data above, it can be seen that the equalizer has not performed its intended function. (The EQ was only adjusted from the default 8 settings to the highest 15 settings, and the same situation occurred.)

  • Hey,

    What is the loss profile of the 10m HDMI cable? Have you tried stepping up the lengths of the cables used for the RX of the equalizer board? Are you able to work with a 5m or 7m?

    What data rate are you using? For HDMI2.1 you must use a CAT3 cable.
