TS3USB221: Powered off protection on S pin

Part Number: TS3USB221

Tool/software:

As shared in the referenced thread, TS3USB221 boasts powered off protection where there is predictable behavior for the device when powered off, even if there is potential presented at VI/O

The Electrical Characteristics table shows IOFF as 2uA when Vcc= 0V and VIO = 0V to 3.6V

My question is, does this apply also to potential on the S pin? Is it okay to present a potential there with Vcc = 0V? Does S count a VIO?

Thank you,

Austin Allen

  • Hi Austin,

This data-point in the datasheet should give you the info you're looking for. At Vcc=0V, Vin of 0V to 3.6V on the Sel pin should produce a IIN +/-1uA, which is the same when VCC is 3.6V. As such, the Sel pin on the device should have power-off protection or a failsafe.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
