Tool/software:
Hi Team,
Customer would like to design SPE with TI solution and refer to SNLU289.
Here are our questions.
1. DP83867ERGZR been used in the app note, could we change solution to DP83867IRRGZR?
2. What is the difference between DP83TG720SWRNDRQ1 and DP83TG720RWRHARQ1? only interface type support or have other difference? Can we use RWRHARQ1 in SPE application?
Regards,
Ben
Hi Ben,
1. Yes, you may replace DP83867E with DP83867I. These parts differ by their temperature rating and SGMII support (which is not applicable if you are planning to use RGMII as in SNLU289).
2. Only difference between these parts is SGMII support. You may use DP83TG720RWRHARQ1 in your SPE application.
Please also see our DP83TG720 schematic checklist, available on ti.com here.
Thanks,
David
Hi David,
May I learn more from you about Question#1?
From your suggestion, DP83867I cannot be applied to RGMII if we refer to SNLU289.
Here is our block diagram. Any risk for the solutions?
Please suggest suitable part if our current solution have some risk. Thanks.
Regards,
Ben
Hi Ben,
Both DP83867E with DP83867I support RGMII interface. There is no issue using either part.
Thanks,
David
Hi David,
One more question about app note - SNLU289.
Can this design also be SPE to LAN? (per our understood, this app note is for LAN to SPE)
Regards,
Ben
Hi Ben,
The media converter works bidirectionally, from SPE to standard ethernet, and standard ethernet to SPE.
Thanks,
David
