TCAN1044A-Q1: delay time from bus fault to Vcc current is limited

Part Number: TCAN1044A-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

Related to the following E2E thread, my customer has further questions.
https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1406970/tcan1044av-q1-question-about-vcc-5v-current-when-a-ground-fault-or-a-sky-fault
The thread says the max current on VCC at bus fault is 130mA maximum.
After the bus gets a ground fault or sky fault, the Vcc current is immediately limited to 130mA with no delay and never exceeds 130mA?
Or after some delay, the Vcc current is limited to 130mA?
In the latter case, how much is the delay at the maximum? And how much the Vcc current could be at the maximum before limited to 130mA?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hi Hirano-San,

After the bus gets a ground fault or sky fault, the Vcc current is immediately limited to 130mA with no delay and never exceeds 130mA?

Correct, the data sheet is clarifying there will be an immediate increase in current characterized for up to 130 mA when the fault condition occurs, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
