DP83867IR: DP83867IR: to resolve link-up issue for a short cable

Part Number: DP83867IR

Tool/software:

Hi Hillman Lin

When monitoring the PHY status register with a switching hub and a DP83867IR connected, I found the following.

<Interrupt Status Register (ISR) AD: 0x0013>
In addition to the auto-negotiation completion (bit 11) and link establishment (bit 10) interrupts,
false carrier interrupts (bit 8) and XGMII error interrupts (bit 2) were occurring repeatedly.

It appears that after link establishment, a false carrier occurs and auto-negotiation is repeated.

If I can prevent false carriers from occurring, I think this will solve the problem, so could you tell me how to solve this?

  • Hi Shoji,

Just want to clarify the doubt. Are you able to see a link up for DP83867 after with and without configuring DP83867?

If possible, could you provide a full register dump from 0x0000 to 0x001F, 0x0225 and 0x0265.

If possible, may I what speed are you currently operate in. The false carrier interrupts would happen if the signal quality is bad. Maybe a schematic would also help.
