DS90UB988-Q1CEVM: User manual and profile required for EVM

Part Number: DS90UB988-Q1CEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP

Tool/software:

We have purchased the above EVM to help debug a critical problem.

The board came with generic instructions to download a user guide from TI, but there is no documentation available on the TI website.

So, we do not have any documentation to explain the various jumpers and ports on the board, nor schematics. I can see it has an MSP430 micro, presumably to translate to I2C.

Nonetheless, I have attempted, but failed, to connect the kit:

  • I've installed ALP and ALP-PROFILE-UPDATE. Connected EVM to windows 10 lapop via Mini USB.
  • EVM shows as USB Input device and HID-compliant vendor-defined device.
  • ALP does not detect the board and opens in demo mode.
  • ALP does not include a profile for DS90UB988, although ALP-PROFILE-UPDATE lists the EVM as compatible.
  • ALP doesn't include any driver accepted by Windows to use instead.

I have tried reaching out to our contact at TI for any support, but none forthcoming so far.

Any help appreciated!

  • Hi Tom,

Thanks for your question. Are you already working with a TI FAE or happen to have CDDS access already?

These are non-public devices, so these items (user guide, profiles, etc) are only accessible through the NDA portal.

    Regards,

    Logan

  • Hi Logan,

Thanks for your help. We are not yet working with a TI FAE and don't have CDDS access. We do have a contact at TI who ias of Friday was trying to set up a meeting with another team at TI. We do have an NDA in place so it should not be a problem to provide NDA material.

If there is a straightforward way for us to request the EVM material, or if you could provide an appropriate direct contact who could request or approve or even inform us what material is available, it would be greatly helpful.

  • Hi Tom,

Just to confirm, the EVM in question is a 948 or a 988?

I'm checking with our marketing team to confirm FPD-Link specific NDA is in place, then we can move forward with CDDS/NDA portal access which has the profiles/EVM user guides/etc. Thanks for your patience.

Can you also provide your TI contact? I can loop them in in case they can help expediate the file share if needed.

    Regards,

    Logan

  • Hi Tom,

Apologies for the delay, I spoke with our marketing team who gave access to the CDDS portal containing the many supporting docs for this device. Can you confirm that you found what you needed? If not, we can switch to E2E messaging and I can provide.

    Regards,

    Logan

  • Hi Logan, thanks so much for your support, I confirm we now have access to CDDS and the necessary documents.
