Hi,

Could you please explain the difference between the two-supply mode and three-supply mode?

From the datasheet, it is mentioned that in the two-supply configuration, no power rail is connected to the VDDA1P8_x pins (pin 13 and pin 48). In the three-supply mode, all three power rails must be connected.

  • Why is the three-supply mode necessary, and what is the significance of both modes?
  • Is there any particular reason why one would choose to use the two-supply mode over the three-supply mode, or vice versa?

    Hi,

    Three power supply mode could save the power consumption of the PHY if you have 1.8V power rail in your design.

    The main difference between two power supply and three power supply is the PHY's power consumption.
