I am reaching out regarding the setup between the DES948 and the Westar converter.

the LED Lock on the DES948 is illuminated, and on the Westar board side, the “2PIX” LED are also illuminated, indicating that a dual-lane source has been detected.

We are considering two possible sources of the problem:

Incorrect Pin Mapping:
- We manually extracted the mapping from the Gerber files and used jumper wires for the initial testing.
- If you have the correct mapping, could you kindly share it with us for verification?
DES948 Configuration with ALP Software:
- There is a possibility that the issue might be related to the configuration settings of the DES948 within the ALP software.

Hello Anis,

What is the timing and PCLK frequency are you running here? Also are you powering the Westar board with 3.3V?

Lastly, what monitor are you using here?

Hello Fadi,

In the ALP information, the Device PCLK is 130 MHz, but the Partner PCLK is between 20–85 MHz.

Regarding the Westar Board, it is powered with 3.3V.

For the monitor, we used an ASUS monitor, and for your information, it did not work when we tried using a laptop with an HDMI-to-USB adapter.

HDMI to USB adapter?

We use Westar boards at TI with no issues. Basically you can plug the westar board directly on the 948 OLDI output then the westar board will convert the OLDI to DVI , then you need a cable that is DVI to HDMI that you can plug directly into your display. Converting to USB may not work since you are using too many conversions you might have a protocol mismatch so if you have an HDMI monitor try plugging directly into it.

Star by testing internal patgen of 948 by enabling that from ALP pattern generator tab and choosing internal timing source and color bars

I would appreciate it if you could send me the pin mapping between the Westar board and the 948 OLDI to verify. This is what I have already done.

To the Westar Board, pins 13 and 14 will be connected to the power supply 3.3V, while pins 11 and 12 will be connected to the GND and this will be for both ports J2 and J5.
