TCAN1043A-Q1: If TCAN1043 is Hardware compatible with TCAN1473?

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1043, TCAN1043-Q1, TCAN1463-Q1, TCAN1473-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Expert,

If customer need data rate is lower than 2Mbps, whether they can use TCAN1043 to take place of TCAN1473?

If not, what they can do to make the two devices HW and SW compatible?

Because TCAN1473's supply can't meet customer's order demand.

  • Hi Beida,

Yes these devices share the same pinout and mode control functionality so there should be no layout or software changes needed to switch between them. It is likely that the system will not be able to meet the same speeds that are possible when using the SIC device, but 2Mbps should be achievable for a reasonably sized system.

Note that the TCAN1043A has an SWE timer which will transition the device into Sleep mode if it remains in Standby mode for >~4 minutes. Please read up on this feature and ensure this will not be an issue for the customer system.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott

  • Hi Eric,

    Thanks for your support!

If customer doesn't need TXDCLP & SWE function, TCAN1463-Q1 is better solution to take place of TCAN1473-Q1 than TCAN1043-Q1?

  • Hi Beida,

TCAN1463-Q1 also has the SWE timer and TXDCLP similar to the TCAN1043A-Q1. Please reference this helpful Seismic document which has all the comparisons for compatibility (particularly slide 3):

To clarify, TCAN1473-Q1 does not have the SWE and TXDCLP functions.

Let us know if that answers your question or if you need any further assistance,
