I have questions about Figure 9-5 I3C Bus Switching Application (Without Pull-up Resistors) and Figure 9-6 I3C Bus Switching Application (With Pull-up Resistors)

Do they indicate that I should connect Vref1 and Vref2 to GND in those applications?

Yes. VREF1/VREF2 is a third channel that is not used in this application.

Could you explain what you mean " a third channel"? I don't get it.

But anyway, I know from you that Vref1 and Vref2 can be connected to GND in the switching applications.

The internal circuit between the VREF1/2 pins is exactly the same as with the other two channels; it's just a MOSFET with the gate connected to EN. (See [FAQ] How do the LSF translators work? for details.) But that is an implementation detail.

Hi Tim,

The "third" channel that Clemens is referencing is the channel between VREF1 and VREF2. It has the same passFET switching architecture between VREF1 and VREF2 as it does the I2C channels.

The VREF channel is used to set the reference voltage for voltage translation applications. You technically could pass signals on the VREF channels, but this is not typical application for this part.
