DS90UB948-Q1: FPD link3 with optical cable

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Tool/software:

Dear team,

I referred several past e2e and found if we do not need bi-directional communication, we may use optical transceiver and translate FPD-link to optical communication from electrical.

Don't you have the past history of what equipment was used for optical transceiver?

The background of this queries is that, our system has UB948 and like to evaluate its EMC. To reduce the effect of Ser and cable we want Ser to place outside of the test chamber by connecting with optical cable.

best regards,
Yuto Kitamura

  • Hi Yuto,

Is the sole reason to transition to optical for EMC concerns? Have you followed any of our other methods for EMC?

Other companies have been successful in implementing the FPD-Link over optical that you are trying to achieve here, but the details of the optical module configuration are not known to us on the TI side since we only own the FPD-Link device portion. I would suggest to find the application specified PCLK/FPD3 datarate and the corresponding optical transceiver that operates within that bandwidth.

I will mention that TI does not perform any validation with active devices between FPD-Link partners(i.e. no optical transceivers).

    Thanks,
