Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to use a optical fiber, such as SFP between a FPD-Link III pair (such as DS90UB936-Q1 and DS90UB935-Q1)? I understand I will need to provide a separate power source but how about the data, control stream and clock (or at lease data and control)? We are going to use the camera system in a very harsh EM environment so we are trying to avoid every electric connections .
Thanks a lot!
Tuoyu
Touyu,
If you need transmit the control signal as well through the fiber, unfortunately, the SFP can't support the bi-direction transmission in single cable to cover high freq. and low freq. case.
may I know what is the environment in your case? thanks.
best regards,
Steven
Hi Steven,
Thanks a lot for your reply. So if I transmit the control signal through another link, for the data can I simply connect the CML ouput line (DOUT+/-) of the chip to a SFP module directly?
We are building a camera system in MRI which would have a very strong RF interference. Appreciate a lot if you have other suggestions.

Tuoyu,
it should be ok. For the design, you need match the 953/954 high speed I/f with your laser driver and limiting amplifier electrical spec. in the SFP module. also, you need match the data rate at ~2Gbps or 4Gbps.
