TMDS1204: Recommended settings for the GBL_CTLE_CTRL register in SINK mode

Part Number: TMDS1204

Tool/software:

Hi David-san

Thank you for your helpful advice.

In your previous answer, you recommended MAP B of CTLE in SINK mode.

Based on this, is it correct to understand that the GBL_CTLE_CTRL setting will be as follows?
HDMI14_CTLE_SEL:0h, HDMI20_CTLE_SEL:1h、HDMI21_CTLE_SEL:2h

It is unclear what specific changes will occur if GLOBAL_CTLEBW is increased. What are the concerns if it is increased too much?

I understand that BW has a greater impact on jitter tolerance than EQ, but is that not the case?

  • Hi Higashimoto-san,

    HDMI14_CTLE_SEL:0h, HDMI20_CTLE_SEL:1h、HDMI21_CTLE_SEL:2h

2h will be automatic based on the snoop datarate and 3h will be HDMI21_CTLE_SEL.

The concern for increasing too much would be that the signal would be over-equalized so there will be degradation on the signal quality. Different CTLE maps are to ensure that the proper equalization is done at each setting for certain data rates.
