TPD12S016: Maximum Junction Temperature

Hello Team,

In the datasheet only maximum operating temperature is provided as -40 to 85, and for the power of 0.209 W I am getting at maximum ambient temperature 85degC, Tj as 104.85 degC. How will I consider if my device works fine even if it reaches 104 degC. As the storage temperature can go up to 150 degC what will the maximum junction temperature it can reach?

Hi Chithkala,

For this device no maximum Tj claimed in datasheet. If it's operating under the recommended operating conditions with a 85C ambient temp, it should be okay. And generally I don't think 105C will reach the limit for similar designs, you should have tens of degree C as the margin.

Hi Ke Wang,

In TI E2E forum itself I got one thread saying for logic devices we can consider maximum junction temperature for logic devices can be considered as same as maximum storage temperature. Can I assume same and consider it will work till 150degC?

Hi Chithkala,

I guess you are referring to this FAQ [FAQ] What is the maximum junction temperature (TJMAX) for a device?

Yes, you can assume the same and it can still be functioning when Tj <150C.
